Drawn before anything was cut

Each locker started as a 3D model and a dimensioned shop drawing. The parts were then laid out on 4×8 sheets so 52 lockers came out of the plywood with as little waste as possible.

Shop drawing: elevations and 3D views.
Sheet layout: every part of one locker on two sheets.
02Prototype

One locker first

Before building 52, I built one. The initial prototype went to Rockhurst University and was loaded with a player's actual gear. Their feedback added three hooks to every locker and a hinged bench seat, and both went into the production drawings.

03Production

Built for repeatability

Fifty-two of anything means jigs. I designed and 3D-printed the stick-slot inserts and the bottom vents, plus the jigs that kept every locker the same. Rockhurst University didn’t want to see screws, so shelves and dividers are joined with Domino tenons and screws only go in the backs. Sheets were broken down, edges banded, and lockers glued up in batches.

Store-bought vent (left) next to the one I designed and printed. Rockhurst University chose the printed one.

A printed fence that locates the Domino for the shelf joints. No visible screws allowed.
Shelves and dividers in the clamps, squared up with another printed jig.

04Delivered

Delivered in batches

Finished lockers were staged in the shop, stretch-wrapped, strapped down and delivered in batches on the schedule we set with Rockhurst University.
